{"id":221,"date":"2026-02-13T00:30:05","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T00:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ierj.org.br\/?p=221"},"modified":"2026-02-19T00:42:33","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T00:42:33","slug":"carnaval-e-religiao-um-encontro-profundo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ierj.org.br\/?p=221","title":{"rendered":"Carnaval e religi\u00e3o: um encontro profundo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pesquisa da Antropologia Social mostra como o sagrado afro-brasileiro est\u00e1 presente na estrutura do Carnaval carioca<\/p>\n<p>Por\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conexao.ufrj.br\/author\/tassia\/\">Tassia Menezes<\/a> (site UFRJ)<\/p>\n<p>O Carnaval de escolas de samba do Rio de Janeiro tem se mostrado, desde sua constru\u00e7\u00e3o, como um espa\u00e7o de produ\u00e7\u00e3o art\u00edstica e cultural que se relaciona diretamente com as religi\u00f5es de matriz africana do Brasil. O fato se refor\u00e7a, historicamente, a partir de grandes enredos que se apoiam em hist\u00f3rias, personalidades, costumes e divindades relacionadas a esses grupos. \u00c9 o caso, por exemplo, do desfile de 1978 da Beija-Flor de Nil\u00f3polis com o enredo A cria\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo na tradi\u00e7\u00e3o nag\u00f4, que abordou narrativas de origem iorub\u00e1 sobre o surgimento do universo. O mesmo aconteceu a partir do que o Acad\u00eamicos do Salgueiro apresentou na avenida no ano de 1969 com o tema Bahia de todos os deuses, que venceu abordando o encontro entre orix\u00e1s e santos cat\u00f3licos ocorrido no estado baiano.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e9cadas depois, a hist\u00f3ria segue o mesmo ritmo. Afinal, pelo menos um ter\u00e7o dos enredos que ser\u00e3o apresentados na Sapuca\u00ed pelas agremia\u00e7\u00f5es do Grupo Especial no ano de 2026 trata diretamente de religiosidades afro. \u00c9 o caso do candombl\u00e9 baiano mostrado pela Beija-Flor com o enredo Bemb\u00e9 do Mercado, que trata de uma celebra\u00e7\u00e3o que acontece h\u00e1 mais de 100 anos na cidade de Santo Amaro, na Bahia. H\u00e1 ainda um destaque dado ao If\u00e1 cubano, que a Para\u00edso do Tuiuti apresenta em Lon\u00e3 If\u00e1 Lukumi; e ao batuque do Rio Grande do Sul, que a Portela traz em O mist\u00e9rio do pr\u00edncipe do Bar\u00e1, no qual mostra a negritude do estado ga\u00facho. Esse caminho n\u00e3o \u00e9 seguido apenas por essas escolas, no entanto. No ano passado, a Unidos da Viradouro venceu a disputa com o enredo Arroboboi, Dangb\u00e9, que tratava de uma divindade serpente cultuada no Benin, na \u00c1frica, pelos fon. J\u00e1 em 2022, o orix\u00e1 Exu foi o personagem principal do enredo Fala Majet\u00e9! Fonte: Age\u0302ncia O Globo (Dispon\u00edvel na Tese)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Esses dados mostram que a rela\u00e7\u00e3o com o sagrado de matriz africana \u00e9 mais do que uma alegoria nas narrativas carnavalescas cariocas, indo al\u00e9m de apenas refer\u00eancia est\u00e9tica e se mostrando tamb\u00e9m como base do cotidiano daqueles que pensam e constroem estes espet\u00e1culos. Esse movimento \u00e9 ainda mais refor\u00e7ado a partir de teses como a de doutorado defendida em 2025 por Sthefanye Silva Paz, no Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Antropologia Social do Museu Nacional (MN\/UFRJ), intitulada Enredos, fun\u00e7\u00f5es e trabalhos: produ\u00e7\u00e3o carnavalesca e pr\u00e1ticas religiosas no barrac\u00e3o da Mangueira. Nela, a pesquisadora mostra como acompanhou a produ\u00e7\u00e3o da Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Primeira de Mangueira entre os anos de 2019 e 2024, compreendendo de que forma o Carnaval das escolas de samba do Rio de Janeiro mant\u00e9m uma rela\u00e7\u00e3o org\u00e2nica e pr\u00e1tica com religi\u00f5es afro-brasileiras, especialmente o candombl\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Ao longo do per\u00edodo dos cinco carnavais em que empreendeu sua pesquisa etnogr\u00e1fica, sua rela\u00e7\u00e3o com a escola fez com que ela se tornasse tamb\u00e9m pesquisadora de enredo da Mangueira, enfatizando o seu aprofundamento nos acontecimentos cotidianos. Essa presen\u00e7a levou Stefhanye a compreender que as tem\u00e1ticas que surgem na avenida t\u00eam uma origem mais profunda, ligada \u00e0 maneira em que o sagrado est\u00e1 presente na estrutura que organiza o Carnaval carioca, principalmente ao observar o \u00e2mbito da escola verde e rosa.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_224\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-224\" style=\"width: 366px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-224\" src=\"https:\/\/ierj.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carnaval_Viradouro_MArceloPiu_PrefeituradoRio-1-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"366\" height=\"231\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Desfile de 2024 da Unidos do Viradouro. | Foto: Marcelo Piu (Prefeitura do Rio)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMesmo quando as narrativas abordam temas aparentemente seculares, diferentes dimens\u00f5es do sagrado permeiam a produ\u00e7\u00e3o carnavalesca\u201d, explica a autora em sua tese, ressaltando que esse encontro pode se desenvolver de diferentes formas, desde rituais espec\u00edficos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o at\u00e9 formas pr\u00f3prias de interpretar os acontecimentos na avenida.
